Born Corey Christie in Lawrence, MA., Reks (Rhythmatic Eternal King Suspence) was introduced to the world of hip-hop at age nine from his older cousins who gave him breakdancing lessons. His love for dancing, Adidas Shelltoes, and the music that fueled the culture he was now a part of, lead Reks to pick up the microphone soon thereafter.
Reks has been a cornerstone of the Greater Boston hip-hop community since the mid-90’s; showing up at shows, open mic’s and battles around the region and dominating over any would be competitors. His ferocious style on the mic, combined with his expansive vocabulary and strong stage presence has earned him immense and immediate respect from his peers and fans alike.
Reks’ debut single was released in July 2000 on Brick Records. The Reks 12" sports 3 songs - "Skills 101", "Science of Life" (feat. Checkmark of the Skitzofreniks), and "Final Four" (feat. Esoteric, J-Live, Shabaam Sahdeeq, Pace Won, Young Zee, Lonnie B & Danja Mowf). “Skills 101,” produced by Soul Searchers, charted in the top five on both the Gavin and Hits rap charts, and debuted at number 45 on the Billboard Hot Rap Chart. Reks can also be found on two 12” singles from his partners in crime the Skitzofreniks, as well as on a remix single from the acclaimed No More Prisons album.
Reks' new album ALONG CAME THE CHOSEN, is in stores now on Brick Records. The album features cameos from RASCO, EDO.G, MSC, SHABAAM SAHDEEQ, OUTSIDAZ, J-LIVE, ESOTERIC & MORE.
